Sandy golden coats are boldly patterned with blackish oblong spots, and thick dark stripes on the forelegs and haunches. Two dark streaks cross each cheek. The short tail has two or three black rings, and tapers to a black tipped point. Their undersides are a creamy white, and the backs of their ears are a pale brown.
