They Put a Cat in the Zoo

Arabian Wildcat

An arabian wildcat at the San Diego Zoo, also known by its scientific name, Felis silvestris gordoni. People would walk by and say that it looked like they just put a house cat in the zoo. In fact, this species is the closest wild relative to the house cat (the latter even being descirbed, in some cases, as a subspecies). In fact, interbreeding with domesticated cats is a threat to wildcat populations.
