Tiger Spit Wash
June 2, 2010Posted by on
Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae) are a subspecies of tiger found only on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Recent genetic testing has revealed the presence of unique genetic markers, which isolate Sumatran tigers from all mainland subspecies. Currently, there are an estimated 400-500 Sumatran tigers left in the wild.
This little guy born at the Sacramento Zoo is very important to the survival of the species. And he/she puts up with a spit wash from mom with few objections!
